July 19th Lower Makefield Board of Supervisors Meeting

There was very lengthy public comment on the issues that arose from the recent flooding.

The Board approved a waiver on any permitting fees for residents doing repair work as a result of the storm. The Board also directed the Solicitor to investigate whether or not the Township could halt development in the Township until additional storm water management was completed.

A Resolution #23-19 Affirming Lower Makefield Township’s Participation in the Sustainable Pennsylvania Municipal Certification Program was also approved.

This is a program that reviews sustainability for the township on all fronts, including environmental issues, and it is something that the Environmental Advisory Council  has advocated for. They also authorized release for an RFP for a consultant to analyze where trees need to be planted in the Township.

At the end of the meeting, there was also a brief discussion about looking at ways to prioritize funding for stormwater projects. One suggestion was to look at some approved park and rec projects that have been approved but not implemented yet and divert the funding to the storm management projects. No decisions were made.
