LMT Board of Supervisors Meeting 8/16/23

The biggest news coming out of the Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting is that Chair Fred Weiss resigned after the last meeting. Suzanne Blundi is now Acting Chair and Supervisor Grenier is now Acting Vice-Chair. Mr. Weiss’s term ended December, 2023 and he was not running for reelection. Matt Ross is the Democratic Candidate running for that position. The BOS will be accepting applications for the interim position until September 1, 2023 with interviews scheduled for September 5th. Townhip Manager David W. Kratzer announced that the Budget Process would be starting soon with October 25th and November 8th discussed as dates for having public workshops to review the 2024 budget.

The residents of Maplevale continued to participate actively during Public Comment. The Board authorized a letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requesting the respective reconsideration of the approval of a second stormwater management pipe discharge into the Delaware Canal. The DEP had approved the permit for the second drain but DCNR refused to allow it. Both the township staff and the residents are eager for this 2nd drain.

In addition, the BOS is changing zoning applications in regards to impervious surface and applicants will be required to address stormwater management mitigation issues in their applications.
