LMT Board of Supervisors Meeting April 17th

Aqua representatives spoke about some sewer issues that they are addressing. There are issues because of high levels of stormwater getting into their system. At Silver Lake, there is also a pipe that needs to be repaired and they are currently engaging a contractor to do so. They are also working on some issues in the Maplevale neighborhood.

The Fire Department made a presentation about all of their work. They were promoting the idea of more paid fire staff because of the limitations of a mostly all-volunteer staff who are aging.

New Finance Director, Barry Luber, introduced some new policies he will be discussing at future meetings. There was discussion regarding the draft Fund Balance Policy, Investment Policy, and Capital Projects Funding Policy. While he did not go into detail about the current financial situation, he did say the YTD transfer tax income is down this year.

There was a discussion on whether or not to put a referendum on the ballot to see if the community  should issue bonds for open space. This would need to move quickly to get on the November ballot but it appeared the supervisors were open to letting the public decide if that was a spending priority for them. The Environment Advisory Council (EAC) has identified some potential properties for purchase if available but they are not publicly releasing the list.
