LMT UPDATE-November 2023

Many important things have happened in the last month so I am just highlighting a few. At the November 15, 2023 meeting the Board of Supervisors approved a new Open Space Ordinance. The LMT Solicitor stated this is enforceable only for developments proposed moving forward, not any pending developments.

A resident asked if the Township was pursuing any grants for Open Space acquisition. The answer was that they are always looking for grants but grants for the amount needed to purchase property are rare. LMT has currently maxed out the Bucks County grants that it was eligible for. Supervisor Lewis stated that he hoped the county would do another bond measure for open spaces that the township could apply for.

There was a five hour budget meeting on November 4, 2023. There is currently a projected three million deficit for FY 2024. After Public Works discussed how the road paving schedule and funding is not sufficient to get enough roads repaired each year there was a discussion on raising the millage rate to be dedicated to roads and stormwater management. This money could only be spent on those issues and would establish some dedicated funding for our roads.

If you have opinions about the budget there is an additional budget meeting on Monday, November 20th at 6:30pm at the Township building and it is expected that by the end of the meeting a preliminary budget will be approved. If you have comments on the proposed budget or budget issues you should let the Supervisors know at or before that meeting.

Here is a quick update on the proposed Verizon cell tower (Zoning Appeal #23-1999) The next Zoning Board appeal is Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Verizon Wireless is planning to have a crane mobilized on the Synagogue property at 375 Stony Hill Road at the new location of the proposed cell tower on Sunday, November 19, 2023 between 1:30-4:00pm. For more information on the crane click here
